During our most recent class time we went over educational value and aspects of wiki's in using them in our schools classrooms. I think this would be a great way of new learning for students when going over a certain topic or idea in class. Having students post ideas and thoughts then having classmates add info, edit, revise, change, and delete information if done for correct info seems like a good outside class forum. Having them start first posting with bulletin posts then expanding to sentences and paragraphs seems like the logical manner of developing creative ideas and thought while working on communication skills . With this form of class activity students would be able to work as individuals and work collaboratively.
The main issue that I have with wiki's is students being able to see where additions were added, revised, what was deleted or edited, and why it was done. The teacher seems to have to be able to explain the proper etiquette of using wiki's for the whole class and explaining what can be learned and expected through the wiki. Though reliability has been an issue with wiki's for some time in peoples minds but now as we discussed in class everyday people want the right and correct information and are making sure it is correct. I do wonder if students will just post info and not take the time to look over others classmates posted info? Has anyone tried this with their class? I would love to know how it went.

I agree that wikis could be very useful in class. I think this idea is very similar to what we do with our its class. My concern is that they will not get to a finished product, but will just make lists. I have not tried this with class yet, but look forward to doing so. Good luck!
