Wiki Review
While thinking about using the wiki in my own classroom I thought about how it could be used as review based and class participation assignment. Since we go through information so quickly I could set up the wiki for reviewing and posting what was learned for a certain topic like in Driver Ed with- Signs and Symbols on the Roadway and their meaning. Each student would have to as part of class participation or Hwk post 2 learned objectives or ideas they got from the class material. This would be a good area to students to review before taking a class test or to review then or at a later time when testing at the DMV for learners permits. This would be a good way for students who are behind or absent to stay up with class material. Has anyone used a wiki like this in your class?

No, but I was thinking along the same lines. Contribute throughout a unit to the wiki and then your review is already set up. I like your idea of using it in your class to help them with the DMV test.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't either, but I like the concept. I teach classroom driver ed, and a wiki for a unit like signs, signals, and markings has a lot of possibilities. Many of my classroom driver ed kids already have their learner's permits and are out driving with their parents while enrolled in my classroom driver ed class. A wiki could be a way for them to comment/post about a classroom concept that they put into action while driving. One example could be where kids list the locations they have been driving where overhead 'lane use' lights were present to control the traffic flow. There are many others, and driver ed is a has a lot of good possibilities like Dave introduced.
