First Time Blogging!

This is my first experience with blogging. I really do not know what to expect but I am willing to see where this takes my learning experience and how it could help me use this technology in my classroom. My wife keeps a blog of our family and what they have been up to so I have seen the social value of being able to follow it. I am not sure how I would use it in my High School classes. I worry that the students would turn it into a social experience since this is how most of the students communicate with each other. I am not sure if students have used blogging in an educational manner or experience but I am sure they would enjoy trying. Does anybody have any ideas on how I might use it in my Driver Education or Physical Education classes? I would like to see some examples before implementing this in my classroom.
